Just because Pat Robertson is a doofus

JamieRieger.com has a hilarious cartoon up in response to Pat Robertson's recent ravings.

Go check it out.

Comments:
I wish that Pat Robertson and people like him would shut up and go away. He is the right wing's version of Jesse Jackson, and all of the lunacy that comes out of him only gives real Christians and real conservatives an undue bad name. I do agree that inteligent design ought to be offered as one possible theory in school. After all, even if the world was made through the use of a big bang, the bang had to come from somewhere. But no, I do not think that God is going to send a natural disaster to anyone's town as punishment. If that's how God did business than why hasn't Hollywood been wiped off the map yet? Pat Robertson is an idiot who only says outrageous things to get noticed by the main stream media.

On a separate but related note... Why is it so hard for so many big important intelectual types to admit that there could be a power higher than themselves? I'll guarntee you that no fancy title, degree or theory will hold much weight when we all have to stand before His throne at the end. Education and influence are good things, but must be used properly, and DO NOT make their holders any better than anyone else.

The point is not whether or not "intellectual types" believe in a higher power or not. And are you saying that all intellectuals don't believe in a higher power? Really? Why does it matter to you if they don't? Wouldn't it be hard for you to admit that there isn't a higher power? What's the damn difference?!?

The point is that THE HIGHER POWERS NEED TO STAY OUT OF THE CLASSROOM!!!!!!

This discussion ends with both sides saying, "well I believe this and that's that." But one side's belief is based on science and the other is not, there is no argument there. The one that is based on science should be the one in the SCIENCE classroom. That should be the end of the discussion.

Okay, one last time: Intelligent Design is not a theory. Not. a. theory. If you are going to offer Intelligent Design as an alternate *possibility*, then where do you stop? I've got ideas too, should they be taught as well?

Okay, now, this is a bit rude. You just told me that I'm going to hell because I don't believe in God. It strikes me as in poor taste to come to another person's site and condemn them to hell. But forget that for now.

Why do you equate intellectual with atheist? There are plenty of intellectuals who believed in God. Have you heard of Einstein, Newton, Galileo? That's just three off the top of my head. All believed in God.

And why can't the "intellectuals" admit the possibility of a god? Well, I can admit that it is theoretically possible, but that is a worthless exercise because I can say the same things about unicorns. But really, there is no need to believe in God unless you start out with the assumption that God exists.

If you don't start from the assumption that there is a god, you never need to invent one. If you ever get to a point where you need to invent a god, then you are not being a very good scientist. That sounds to me like giving up because science is hard. Btw, aren't you a chemist? That sounds pretty smart to me.

You know what? We are just talking different languages. I'm guessing nothing I say will ever make you change your mind and vice versa. That's the way it is with faith vs. science.
